Gasherbrum II / Southwest Ridge - to C4 @ 7500m / 1991

Of my four big mt trips, this was by far the most intense and exciting. Perhaps because it was all so new, but also because the vibe was so terrific. We had a great team. The good weather came to an abrupt end a day before it should have. The Swedes went fro it from high camp, while the rest of us bailed. They cam close but turned back when it became the smart thing to do. We hung in basecamp but the weather and the psych never quite warrented another big effort after all the time we put into the first one.
