Backbone Arete - 2004

Still not sure how we missed the stellar crack system up on the Fin but from the looks of it I think we took the line described in the Nelson Guide. It was getting late so we took a TR on the 5.9 pitch up thru the featureless rock below the ridge. Resting above the crux, the foothold broke and I took a stretchy bounce on the 9mil rope. Surprised the belayer too. We had no crampons so had a interesting time getting off the icefield on the back side. Got back well after dark. Wicked hot in the area that week.
