Always a good idea to get some easy altitude under your belt with a warmup upon arrival from lowly NH. A hike to Mono Pass is familiar ground, but I'd never been to the top of Starr Mt. Worth the effort particularly if you go by way of the South Ridge. The views from the top are excellent. The quick descent is down the chossy gravel fest on the west side, but I should have reversed the route and kept the quality factor at a higher level.
