The assumption after a year of fairly intense training and preparation was that I was fit and ready to go. A year ago that seemed like solid reasoning. This year it didn't quite play out that way. A 40+ lb pack w/ climbing gear had me on the back foot for five days. What it did was squelch any drive to push the boat out a bit further and go for some climbs that would call for a fairly aggressive pursuit of reasonable goals while moving thru a fairly long route thru the Island Lake - Wall Lake region. It could have been more, but what it was ended up being a very good warm up - and nothing more.
